Client: Metro Homes NW LLC
Service: 2025 SE Harold Street Justification for Design Exception Report.
Project Description: The proposed new construction includes a three-story, six-unit apartment building with two 119 square feet storage sheds and three parking spaces in the rear; and, garbage and bike parking in front of the building. Access to the proposed parking in the rear of the building is to be provided through a 10 feet wide alley.
Results: In evaluating the justification to approve the proposed two-way traffic alley width design exception, we considered the following factors: traffic volumes, City of Portland Codes/Design Standards, availability of right-of-way and safety.
The proposed 10 feet wide alley width can easily and safely accommodate two-way traffic for the proposed parking spaces. Based on the justification noted above, it is recommended that the design exception be approved.

Haregu has been very professional and worked to deliver a complex federal aid transportation project as part of our team over a three year design development period. The project required intense periods of design work followed by periods of no activity as decisions were made and additional construction funding acquired. Through the entire process, I appreciated Nemariam Engineers & Associates ability to adapt to the challenging schedule, exercise sound judgement, and deliver the work under budget.
